Throughout the semester, we have discussed several aspects of the journey– biological, anthropological, environmental, cultural, and economic. During these discussions, we summarized various essays and examined the texts to find passages that helped develop the essays’ themes and/or the authors’ arguments. For your next paper, you will make your own argument, but first you will need to identify some of the controversial issues concerned with “The Journey theme.” For this informal assignment, list five controversial issues worthy of debate in the comments section below. Be sure the issues are based on the assigned readings. For example: Americans’ quality of life would improve if we all rode Bataille’s mole because we’d sacrifice the the illusion of freedom.
